Position Overview

College Achieve Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Nurse. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality health services to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Campus-Level Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care, first aid, emergency response, and health counseling to students and staff
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with policy and physician orders
  • Maintain accurate health records and ensure immunization compliance for all students
  • Conduct regular screenings and assessments, and manage Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs)
  • Participate in IEP/504 and crisis intervention teams
  • Educate students and staff on wellness, hygiene, and disease prevention

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field
  • Current NJ license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current CPR certification
  • School Nurse certification
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in school or community health settings preferred
  • Must pass a criminal history background check

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually based on health service delivery, oversight responsibilities, documentation accuracy, compliance with state and local regulations, and collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Strong clinical judgment and health systems knowledge
  • Leadership and coordination skills with the ability to manage a multi-campus nursing team
  • Familiarity with NJ state immunization laws and school health regulations
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to student wellness and equitable access to healthcare services

Work Environment & Safety

  • School-based and administrative responsibilities across campuses
  • Must respond promptly to health emergencies and travel between sites as needed
  • Exposure to body fluids, medical equipment, and public health risks
  • Adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and all district health and safety guidelines
